THE ORIGINS OF WINTER WANDER

The FIRST ANNUAL Winter Wander Scavenger Hunt ran from Dec. 5-13, 2020 and owes it’s genesis to the pandemic.

With so many cherished traditions and events being disrupted and canceled due to shut-downs, local REALTOR®, Alice Kuder, decided to create a new free, LIVE community event to add some joy to an otherwise bleak holiday season.

It was so well received that plans are in progress for Winter Wander 2021, which will run from Dec. 3-12, 2021.

Once again, it will be FREE and open to all West Seattle residents of all ages with prize drawings for those who submit selfies of their participation.

Check out the clue sheet and participant instructions from last year’s hunt.

Check out this amazing PDF showing how one team, who dubbed themselves, “Beyond the Disaster”, documented their participation. They were one of two teams to solve all 36 clues.

Here are the results of Winter Wander 2020.

CONGRATULATIONS to Terri C. of West Seattle! She, her husband and daughter did a great job of solving 13 Winter Wander clues and won the drawing for $200 in gift cards from local merchants. The businesses they chose are Northwest Art and Frame, Paper Boat Booksellers, and Coastal Surf Boutique.

12 groups submitted a total of 193 selfies for the contest, and countless other groups played just for fun!

Many thanks to the 15 neighborhood businesses and institutions who agreed to participate as solutions to our clues. We hope you will pay each of them a visit and express your gratitude as well. They are:

    1. Hi Anna, if the selfie correctly identifies the solution to the clue, it qualifies! If you didn’t find the correct house/business, I’ll let you know so you go search again. Thanks for playing!

      1. Maybe what you really wanted to know was what to do with the selfies? Send them to WinterWander2020@gmail.com.
